Daniel Pitín (*1977, Prague, Czechoslovakia) studied painting and conceptual media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) under Zdeněk Beran and Miloš Šejn.

A leading figure among the generation of artists to emerge after the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe, Pitín is known for his visually layered paintings that merge cinematic imagery, architectural spaces and art historical references. Combining fragments of memory, dreams and everyday life, his atmospheric compositions explore the relationship between personal and collective memory through enigmatic narratives that oscillate between reality and fiction.

Recent solo exhibitions include Memories of a Deserted Island at Nicodim, Los Angeles (2025), The Newcomers Association at Hunt Kastner, Prague (2024), Time Machine at Nicodim, New York (2023), Playing With Heads at Charim Galerie, Vienna (2022), and A Paper Tower at Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague (2019). Earlier institutional solo exhibitions include the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (2012) and the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art and the Knoxville Museum of Art (2011). He lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic.
