Ulay (*1943, Solingen - 2020, Ljubljana) was a German artist based in Amsterdam and Ljubljana, internationally recognised as an important progenitor of performance art in conjunction with longtime collaborator Marina Abramović. His performance work highlights questions of gender and national identity and one’s role in society.

Charim Galerie works in close collaboration with the Ulay Foundation.

In November 2025 - May 2026, a major retrospective exhibition of the collaboration between Abramović and Ulay took place at Cukrarna Gallery, Ljubljana, titled: ART VITAL – 12 Years of Ulay / Marina Abramović.
