Ulay (*1943, Solingen - 2020, Ljubljana) was a German artist based in Amsterdam and Ljubljana, internationally recognised as an important progenitor of performance art in conjunction with longtime collaborator Marina Abramović. His performance work highlights questions of gender and national identity and one’s role in society.

Charim Galerie works in close collaboration with the Ulay Foundation. In 2025 there will be a major retrospective exhibition of the collaboration between Abramović and Ulay at the Cukrarna Museum of Contemporary Art, Ljubljana.
