Markus Krottendorfer (*1976, Vienna) lives and works in Vienna and Graz, Austria.

His practice explores the historical uses of photography and film, as well as the installation-based and performative possibilities of presenting these media. By examining the conditions under which images are produced, circulated, and experienced, his work investigates the intersections of memory, representation, and visual culture.

Krottendorfer studied at the School for Artistic Photography in Vienna under Friedl Kubelka (1997–98) and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1998–2003), where he studied with Eva Schlegel and Josephine Pryde.
